Orlando Golf
One thing Orlando is not short of is Golf courses, there are hundreds of them all
within easy travelling distance from
Orlando. Some villa communities are built with
a golf course as part of the community. Such as Southern Dunes or Highlands Reserve.
Green fees vary greatly but you can get a game for around $30 and hire some clubs
if you wish for around $25. There are several championship PGA courses too. There
is Champions Gate which has 2 courses designed by Jack Nicholas and Greg Norman.
One is a links type course and the other more of an American style. Green Fees here
are quite expensive.
Highlands Reserve.
Situated on the Hwy 27 between the I4 and Hwy 192. This is a nice course that combines
a links type course with treelined fairways and a touch of Florida with citrus trees
dotted around. Reasonably priced at around $35 for the 18 holes including golf cart.
Golf clubs can be hired. It is 6649 yds at it's maximum and is a Par72 course. There
is also a Driving Range.
Southern Dunes.
This unique for central florida course is ranked in the best 100 golf courses of
the US. It has large sandy shrubbed areas and has some huge bunkers with large rolling
fairways. There is also some huge changes in elevation some 100ft. The course is
situated on the Southern Dunes villa community near Haines City on the Hwy 27. Price
around from $50. The course length: 7227 yds. Par: 72.
Falcons Fire.
Located on South International Drive, Just off the I4 and close to Hwy 192. The
front 9 is easier with water on three holes, while the back 9 wraps around two large lakes wihere holes (12-18) will test the most
skilled player. They claim
to have tournament playing conditions 12 months a year, the course
is arguably one of the finest maintained in Central Florida. Falcon's Fire has often
hosted such events as the Senior PGA Tour Qualifying School and the Oldsmobile Scramble
National Finals. Again this course has been rated America's "Top 100 Golf Shops" for 3 years.
