
The Ever popular Typhoon Lagoon is a water park located within the Walt Disney World
Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The water park opened on June 1, 1989 and is
home to the world's largest outdoor wave pool. Legend has it that a typhoon wreaked
havoc upon a beautiful tropical paradise. The centre piece of the park is "Miss
Tilly," a shrimp boat impaled upon a mountain named "Mount Mayday"
that erupts a 50-foot column of water every 30 minutes. Typhoon Lagoon's mascot
is "Lagoona Gator" who is related to Blizzard Beach´s mascot Ice
Gator.
Mount Mayday Attractions:
Humunga Kowabunga: Three enclosed "speed slide" flumes
that hurl riders’ downward five stories in seconds (Height Restriction: 48”
or taller).

Storm Slides: Three enclosed water slides called Jib Jammer, Stern
Burner and Rudder
Buster, that send riders’ through twists and turns from a height of three
stories.
Gang Plank Falls: Family raft ride featuring large four-person
inner tubes.
Mayday Falls: Tube slide that sends riders down rocky falls.
Keelhaul Falls: Tube slide that sends riders through caves and
waterfalls.
Forgotten Grotto: A cave walkway through Mt. Mayday and over a
rope bridge.
Hideaway Bay Attractions:
once known as "Out of the Way Cay", is a sandy beach area located behind
the changing rooms and lockers. It is in the most hidden part of the park and features
the newest attraction at Typhoon Lagoon. Crush ´n´ Gusher:
Water "coaster" where two to three person rafts are propelled by water
jets through sharp turns and drops. (Height Restriction: 48" or taller).
Sandy White Beach: Beach area with Sun Loungers and chairs as well
as a wading pool area next to Crush 'n' Gusher.
Typhoon Lagoon Attractions:
this is the largest section of the water park and home of the feature attraction
the Tidal Wave, as well as many shaded, white
sandy beaches to relax and sunbathe if you wish.
Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool: Wave pool, which alternates on a 90-minute
surf (6 foot high) waves and a 30-minute bobbing waves cycle.
Bay Slides: Beginner slides situated in a corner of the Surf Pool
designed to send toddlers down shallow slopes that end shallow water where mums
and dads can catch them. Height restriction: 60” or under.
Blustery Bay: Zero depth entry tidal pool near the clock tower,
adjacent to the “Surf Pool” and is surrounded by sandy beaches.
Whitecap Cove: Zero depth entry tidal pool near “Surf Doggies”,
adjacent to the “Surf Pool” and is surrounded by sandy beaches.
Learn to Surf: Hosted by “Craig Carroll’s Cocoa Beach
Surf School” a two and a half hour surf lesson before the park opens (additional
cost). All needed surf gear provided.
Shark Reef Attractions:
Two saltwater reefs separated by a sunken upside down tanker.
Shark Reef:
Snorkel through an unheated, saltwater reef populated with manta rays, bonnet head
and leopard sharks (small ones!) and tropical fish. Snorkels, masks and lifejackets
provided free of charge. An adult must accompany children under 10 years of age.
Sunken Tanker: Underwater viewing area of the reefs. Viewed through
tankers portholes.
S.A.S Adventure: A 30-minute “Surface Air Snorkeling”
experience. Using a “pony” tank, a small regulator, and a buoyancy vest
experience the “Shark Reef” in a different way (additional cost). All
participants must be at least 5 years of age.
Hammer Head Fred’s Dive Shop: Snorkels, masks, lifejackets
and unheated showers provided
TIP: As in Blizzard Beach you can buy the refillable
Drink Mugs that cost $10 and you can fill it all day from the soda fountains. If
you return another day you can get a new sticker for your mug for $7.
